Spreading my wings in windy Oklahoma

Let me introduce myself. The name's Meghan, and I'm a city girl. I was born and raised in Georgia. I grew up within the city limits, and my high school had no 4-H, FFA, or any ag classes. Needless to say, high school was not one of the best times of my life.

Wanting to get the heck out of my toxic hometown and all the people in it (family aside), I headed to the big city of Athens. My heart still belongs there. The University of Georgia is where I began learning about agriculture. Yes, I started learning about agriculture IN COLLEGE. It was love at first sight.

I majored in agricultural communications and received my degree in Spring 2009. The day before school started in the fall of 2009, I moved to Oklahoma to atttend Oklahoma State University for grad school. This is where all heck broke loose. In a good way.

Within a week, I had purchased my first pair of REAL cowboy boots. They were red and black - for UGA, of course! I proudly wore them with a dress to my first OSU football game against, ironically enough, UGA. I'm sure I was laughed at.

Since moving to Oklahoma nearly two years ago, I have had many firsts. These include, but are not limited to:
  • riding a horse
  • firing a gun
  • two-stepped
  • checked cows
  • met a REAL cowboy
  • having a REAL cowboy remove his hat when introduced to me (my knees buckled - and still do)
Needless to say, I LOVE OKLAHOMA and all of its inhabitants. Stay tuned for more of my adventures.

Bless your heart,
